Put your project forward, or make the most of the RackList community
Free bump, on-demand boost, podium auction: three levers to gain visibility on RackList's home page and public exchange ranking. The directory ranking itself is never for sale.
A space put forward by its members, never a shortcut up the ranking
On RackList, the base listing is free and the ranking is built from reviews, measured uptime and pricing transparency. The podium is a separate space, shown on the home page and the public ranking: a member spends Watts to promote their host listing or project there, without ever moving a host's score or rank in the directory.
Bump: free, once a day
Once a day, push your project back to the top of the exchange ranking. Free first, then 50 Watts and doubling with every extra bump, up to 6 a day.
Boost: more impressions
Buy extra impressions in packs of 1,000, paid with earned Watts or premium U, up to the listing's daily delivery cap.
Podium: the most visible spot
Stake the most Watts to win a podium spot, for 24 hours or 7 days. Highest bid wins, and the spot is guaranteed for the full duration.
How it works
Three distinct mechanisms, from simplest to most strategic. Each spends Watts differently and pulls a different visibility lever.
The bump: one click, once a day
From your account's Diffusion hub, one click pushes your project back to the top of the exchange ranking (most recently bumped first). The day's first bump is free; the next ones cost 50 Watts and double each time (100, 200...), up to 6 bumps a day per account. A 4-hour cooldown then applies per project.
The boost: more impressions, on demand
Every project gets free base delivery in the exchange. Boost buys extra impressions in packs of 1,000, paid with earned Watts or U (premium credits), up to the listing's daily delivery cap.
The podium auction: the most visible spot
A bounded number of podium spots (home page and top of the ranking) is won by auction in Watts, for 24 hours or 7 days. The highest bid wins and the spot is guaranteed for the full duration, never displaced midway. Holding several spots at once doubles the reserve price each time: monopolising the podium gets exponentially more expensive.
What changes, on both sides
Measurable, time-bound visibility that never touches your listing's score or organic rank.
A price set by real demand: the highest bid wins, never a fixed rate imposed on you.
Full control of timing: a one-off bump, a continuous boost, or an auction spot for a launch or promo.
This featured space is always labelled as such, never confused with the directory's objective ranking.
New hosting providers and projects to discover, surfaced by their own members rather than by RackList.
The host ranking stays built solely on reviews, measured uptime and pricing transparency.
What the podium never does
The separation between the featured space and the organic ranking is strict and technical, not just editorial.
No. The bump, the boost and the podium auction only act on the exchange rotation and the podium spots. None of the three touches the RackList Score or a host's position in the directory or search results.
Watts staked on the podium are burned the moment they win a spot, never while queued. Watts spent on a bump or a boost fund your project's delivery in the exchange. Either way, it's a one-off spend, not a recurring subscription.
This space is put forward by members who stake Watts earned by displaying other projects, never money. It never affects the directory ranking or a host's score.
Frequently asked questions
Who can put their project on the podium?
Any member with a hosting provider or a project eligible for the exchange, created on RackList. Bidding happens from the account's Diffusion hub.
What happens if my bid isn't enough for a spot?
Your bid joins the queue, ranked by amount. It is only charged once a spot frees up and your bid wins it, never while waiting.
Can I lose my spot midway?
No. Once a spot is won, tenure is guaranteed for the full chosen duration, 24 hours or 7 days, even if a higher bid comes in afterwards. That bid joins the queue for the next spot that frees up.
Can I hold several spots at once?
Yes, but the reserve price doubles for every extra spot the same account already holds or has queued. The mechanism makes monopolising the podium increasingly expensive.
Does paying for the podium improve my ranking?
No. The bump, the boost and the podium auction only act on the exchange rotation and on the podium spots. None of the three touches the RackList Score or a host's position in the directory, and every placement won stays marked "Sponsored".
